The board of the Kavli Trust has elected Silvija Seres as a new trustee. She replaces Reidar Lorentzen, who reached retirement age in December 2014 after serving as a trustee since 2000 and making an invaluable contribution to the trust and to the Kavli group.
Seres is an independent investor, company director and adviser to various companies. Her current directorships include Nordea, Enoro Holding, Syncron, Academedia and various research institutions such as Simula Research Lab and Sintef IKT.
She has previously worked as a researcher and fellow in Oxford and at the Digital Equipment Corporation’s systems research centre (DEC SRC). Other posts include head of product marketing at Fast Search & Transfer and head of business management at Microsoft.
Seres holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Oxford and an MBA from Insead.
Other trustees of the Kavli Trust are Aksel Mjøs (chair), Solfrid Lind and Dag J Opedal. The trust owns the Kavli group, and is responsible for making charitable donations, exercising ownership and managing other funds.

The Kavli Fund was established by Knut Kavli in 1962. It owns the Kavli group and is responsible for allocating profits from the group’s operations in accordance with Knut Kavli’s wishes. In 2015, the trust allocated NOK 58.2 million to good causes in the fields of research, culture and humanitarian work.
The Kavli group is one of Norway’s leading food manufacturers, with an annual turnover of roughly NOK 3 billion in the Nordic region and the UK. In Norway, the group is best known for Kavli spreadable cheese and dairy products from Q-Meieriene.
