Washington Riding Centre

Eileen Curley met with Maureen Brown and Paul Lewney of Kavli UK to discuss plans for developing the Riding School facility in Washington, Tyne and Wear. The school has been in operation since 1977 and provides the opportunity for 130 children and adults with a range of physical disabilities and learning difficulties to experience time with horses every week.

The benefits of time spent this way has become increasing recognised by medical and educational establishments as highly effective and contributes to improvements in a wide range of medical conditions, encourages personal independence whilst providing a positive and unique form of therapy. Working with The Kavli Trust, a new stable block is being built for livery, that will provide a sustainable and long term source of income and will then allow further self-funded developments and upgrades to take place at the school.
