Programme on health research

The Kavli Trust Programme on Health Research is committed to fund research on preventing and combating serious illness and on alleviating humanitarian need. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 the programme will be devoted to the funding collaborative research projects addressing selected evidence gaps in children and adolescents mental health.

Administrative staff

The staff designed the programme. They screen all applications before sending them through to review and they provide support for the scientific committees.

The Strategic Scientific Committee

The committee searches for evidence gaps in high quality scientific databases. The identified evidence gaps are formulated as research questions.

Arild Bjørndal | Chair
Bjørndal is the director of RBUP and professor II at the University of Oslo. He is the former board chair of the Campbell Collaboration.

Johan Siqveland, Member
Siqveland is a senior advisor at Akershus University Hospital. He is a psychologist and researcher, and previously a senior advisor at the section of Health Economics and Drugs Unit at The Norwegian Knowledge Centre for the Health Services.

Karianne Thune Hammerstrøm | Member
Hammerstrøm is a senior advisor at RBUP and the former head of the section of welfare services at The Norwegian Knowledge Centre for the Health Services.

Brandy Maynard
Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at Saint Louis University and Co-Chair of the Campbell Collaboration’s Social Welfare Coordinating Group.

Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State

Heather Taussig
Professor and Associate Dean for Research in the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver


The User Panel

The user panel consists of six different Norwegian mental health organisations. They provide a ranking of the research questions. It serves as a recommendation when the Kavli Trust Board decides on which research questions that will be funded.

The organisations are Mental Helse, Mental Helse Ungdom, Landsforeningen for pårørende i psykisk helse, Norsk psykologforening, Norsk psykiatrisk forening and Rådet for psykisk helse.

    For andre gang skal Kavlifondets program for helseforskning dele ut totalt 25 millioner kroner til forskningsprosjekter som omhandler utvalgte kunnskapshull innen barn og ungdoms psykiske helse. Registrering og søknadsskjema åpner 3. januar 2018.
