Helsingborg Symyphony Orchestra - Sweden

The Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra (HSO) is one of the oldest in Sweden and comprises 60 professional musicians.

One week a year, half the orchestra takes a holiday and is replaced by 40 music-interested young people aged 16-25 from the whole Nordic area. Known as the Nordic Orchestra Academy, this is intended as an introduction to life as professional musicians. Students at upper secondary schools, music colleges and art schools can apply on the recommendation of their music teachers. The academy reaches talented youngster who do not necessarily belong to the professional institutions, and provides them with unique opportunities. Support from the Kavli Trust will help to make this venture better known to teaching staff at the various music institutions in the Nordic region.
