ChildFund Sweden - India

Local learning centres for vulnerable children

The ChildFund Sweden organisation works to give all children the opportunity for a better future, with particular attention paid to health, education, entrepreneurship and security. Everything is done in close cooperation with the children, their families and local staff.

A new project in the Indian state of Rajasthan works with youngsters from various minorities who have never gone to school. Most schools today are located in big towns, and many poor children have problems getting to them.

ChildFund Sweden intends to establish three local learning centres where the children live, giving those aged six to 14 an opportunity to learn reading, writing and arithmetic. That can help them to move on to a state school.
