NOKAbout the project
“TVET for Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Change 2” is designed to equip young people in Ethiopia with practical skills for employment while addressing urgent climate challenges.
Many vocational training centres currently lack the tools and curricula needed to teach sustainable technologies. At the same time, youth unemployment remains high, and climate change continues to put pressure on livelihoods.
The project will strengthen eight vocational training centres, helping them become hubs for green skills. Students and teachers will be trained in solar energy, environmental practices, and entrepreneurship—combined with support for mental health and life skills.
What will the Kavli Trust funding support?
The Kavli Trust is providing NOK 4 million over the period 2025–2027. The funding will support:
- Installation of solar PV systems and a pilot solar mini-grid
- Development of new training programmes in renewable energy
- Training for teachers, students, and local communities
- Career guidance, internships, and links to employers
- Mental health and psychosocial support initiatives
- Climate and environmental awareness activities
The aim is to create real opportunities for young people while supporting the transition to sustainable energy and local resilience.
