NOKAbout the project
ReTuren is DNT’s repair and redesign workshop for outdoor clothing and equipment. Instead of discarding worn or damaged gear, items are repaired, upgraded, and brought back into use.
The project combines hands-on craftsmanship with learning and inclusion. Through courses, volunteering, and work training, the workshop becomes a hub for skills, community, and opportunity.
Its goal is clear: reduce consumption, extend product lifespans, and offer practical, local alternatives to a throwaway culture.
At the same time, the project creates meaningful ripple effects—supporting youth inclusion, building local capacity, and lowering barriers to outdoor participation.
What the Kavli Trust funding supports
The funding will help establish and grow ReTuren as a sustainable, long-term initiative.
This includes:
- Workshop facilities and equipment
- Repair and redesign services
- Training in self-repair
- Work opportunities for young people
- Volunteer engagement and skills-building
It’s a model rooted in early intervention and prevention—delivering measurable impact and long-term value for both society and the environment.
