NOKAbout the project
This project provides in-school mental health support to around 4,000 children across ten primary schools in North East England. Many of these schools serve communities facing significant socio-economic challenges, where children are at greater risk of developing mental health difficulties.
By embedding trained professionals directly in schools, Place2Be ensures children can access help early. Support includes one-to-one counselling, drop-in sessions, group work and classroom-based activities. Teachers and school staff are also supported to better understand and respond to pupils’ emotional needs.
Parents and carers are actively involved, creating a joined-up approach that supports children both at school and at home.
What the Kavli Trust funding will support
Funding from the Kavli Trust will help sustain and strengthen the programme over three years. It will fully fund a dedicated Family Practitioner working closely with children and parents, while also contributing to the wider delivery in schools.
The aim is to provide timely support, build resilient school communities, and equip families with tools to support their children’s wellbeing
