MOT Norge New school programme to support children and young people
MOT Norge
How do we create school environments where children feel included, confident and able to thrive? With a new national programme and a strong research component, MOT Norway aims to support children’s mental health through early action, prevention and close collaboration with schools.

NOKAbout the project
MOT Norway is developing a new programme for middle school students (ages 10–13), tailored to a stage where social dynamics and identity are rapidly evolving. At the same time, the organisation is conducting a large-scale research project on its existing programme “Robust Youth” in partnership with NTNU.
The ambition is to offer a coherent approach throughout the entire school journey – supporting young people in building resilience, self-awareness and a sense of belonging.
The project responds to a growing need in schools, where many young people report increased pressure, loneliness and mental health challenges. A structured, long-term approach can strengthen both individuals and the wider school community.
What the funding from the Kavli Trust will support
The grant from the Kavli Trust enables both development and evidence-building:
- Development of a research-based programme for middle school
- Pilot implementation in collaboration with at least 20 schools
- Training and guidance for teachers
- A longitudinal research study on “Robust Youth”
- Dissemination of findings to schools, professionals and policymakers
Together, these efforts aim to create measurable impact locally and meaningful ripple effects more broadly.
