ReFuse - Eat Smart plus, enabling young leaders
Eat Smart Plus - Enabling young leaders
It often starts in the school canteen. With food left uneaten – and habits that can change. In Eat Smart Plus, young people learn about food and how to change the systems around them.

Eat Smart Plus – Enabling Young Leaders builds on REfUSE’s successful Eat Smart programme, taking it further – from awareness to action.
Students explore how the food system impacts health, climate and inequality. They analyse food waste in their schools, develop action plans and collaborate with staff and decision-makers to implement change.
At the heart of the programme are the “Waste Warriors” – young leaders driving change in schools and communities.
What the Kavli Trust funding will support
The Kavli Trust funding will:
- Expand the programme to more schools
- Strengthen follow-up work for lasting impact
- Engage young people in community-based activities
- Enable youth-led influence on policies and practices
The ambition is clear: not just behaviour change, but system change.
