Strenthening mental health among at-risk adolescents in Malaysia
Can the right tools give young people in Malaysia a better everyday life?
What does it take to improve young people’s mental health—where resources are limited?
This project explores whether Super Skills for Life, a school-based programme, can strengthen life skills among adolescents in Malaysia. The aim is to reduce anxiety and depression, and to equip young people with better tools to manage everyday challenges.
The programme is delivered in schools by teachers and staff who know the students. It targets young people aged 12–14 who are at increased risk of developing mental health difficulties.
Researchers are examining both whether the programme is effective and whether it can be delivered in a simple, cost-efficient way—so it can reach more people.
The goal is to identify solutions that can improve young people’s mental health, even in settings where access to support is limited.
The study may help shape health and education practices in Malaysia and other low- and middle-income countries.
