Care - Burundi
Saving and loan groups are a form of microfinance which have been developed by the Care organisation and established in Burundi.
Care has also collaborated over the past eight years with local organisations in the east African country on a programme for equal opportunities and women’s rights.
This will provide further education and support for female entrepreneurs who have the potential to establish or expand enterprises which need more investment than saving and loan groups can provide.
Four hundred of these women will receive extensive training in company formation, and will then train a further 4 500 people in their turn.
