New Life Africa International - Kenya
The Danish New Life Africa International organisation works with marginalised children, young people and women in the Kenyan city of Nakuru.
It runs children’s homes for boys and girls and a crisis centre for women, as well as working for children and women on one of the east African country’s biggest rubbish tips.
The organisation also runs the New Life Garment Making School to teach the women sewing and thereby equip them to make their own living.
Through a collaboration with Kavli, the organisation will now begin a four-year training project for 35 vulnerable women so they become more independent through new garment-making skills.
Part of the education programme will also deal with women’s rights, HIV and Aids, and entrepreneurship.
